Updates for July

Firstly, I am absolutely delighted and proud to announce that my husband Mark, one of our members and a driving force behind our rapid growth has been elected on to the Board of Governors for the Tees Esk Wear Valley NHS Trust. I may have reason to be a little bit biased however, I can without doubt say his dedication towards helping  vulnerable people in the community and especially in supporting those with substance misuse issues is outstanding. You will be an absolute asset to this board with your stance on decency, inclusion and first class service delivery. Well done and here's a few messages from others that think the same:

PS: I'm so pleased for Mark if anyone deserves this he does, he was so kind to be our sacrifice for first aid training he is a wonderful funny guy and he gave me advice when i needed it about a matter i was stuck with. So pleased Mark and hope you will go on to do all the wonderful things you do for all that needs it you're one in a million Mark, as we in yorkshire say, chuffed to bits.
MR, Community Link worker: well done Mark, the gentle giant who is always working behind the scenes. So deserved xx

Dadlg Durham: Congratulations Mark - and all the very best in your new role! Well Done!!
KS CDS: Would like to extend huge congratulations to Mark Williams for securing his place on the board of Governors at TEWV Trust. Well done mate and well deserved. Also many thanks for all you do behind the scenes for EDRAW and all of the Easington community.....I take my hat off to you.......(writes a mean book as well, I`m told).

ED RAW new Mentoring Project

Under the umbrella of ED RAW we are looking to develop a Befriending & Mentoring scheme. We are currently exploring a multi-agency approach and hope to work closely with both Statutory and Voluntary Sector partners to provide an effective and lasting intitiative.

This vision fits extremely well with the ED RAW ethos of Inclusion for all and supporting the most vulnerable in our community.

The Scheme will include the recruitment and training of Volunteers and work to achieving the Approved Provider Standard in partnership with the Mentoring & Befriending Foundation.

The scheme will look to work with members of our community who are vulnerable, isolated and also with offenders returning from prison in an attempt to reintergate them back into our community, and to support them establish constructive and worthwhile futures for themselves and their families. As with all EDRAW intitiatives this scheme will use the 5 ways to Wellbeing as its foundation.

Connect, Be Active, Keep Learning, Take Notice & Give.

ED RAW, Celebrating & Supporting Recovery from Addiction.

ED RAW are proud and privileged to be invited to march for Recovery from Addiction at the Miners Gala on the 13th of July. Addiction affects many people in our community and can affect us all at some point in our lives.

ED RAW truly believes that with the right help and support from the community, individuals can fully recover and once again become valuable members of society . Keep a look out for us & come over and say Hello!!

ED RAW prides itself in not putting people into boxes depending on their life circumstances and recognises the problems associated with addictive behaviour is particularly problematic in the Easington District.

We will be marching with members of the community whose families have in some way been affected by Addiction. We will be highly visible in our ED RAW Recovery T Shirts which we have had custom made for the day.

Anyone interested in joining us and getting involved, please contact Carole on 07914840143 or email carolewestwilliams@gmail.com.

Once again exciting and innovative times ahead for ED RAW...The project everyone is talking about....

Wax on, Wax off Fundraising Event.

Ouch!!!

A fantastic day was had by all and after the Community family Film Club, it was finished in style with 9 of our brave members taking to the couch for some charity hot wax and stripping!

Thanks to these brave Men and the generosity of the Community we managed to raised around £500.00. It is so inspiring for us as workers to see the Community rally together to make this a happier, healthier place to live by supporting each other.

We could not have completed this fundraiser today if it were not for the help, patience and professionalism of Danielle Hanley, thanks so much Danielle...

We hope you enjoyed the gallery and thanks again Guys!

Team Durham & EDRAW Family Sports Event

As I always say, a picture tells a thousand words and  we could write a novel with this lot!

We cannot tell you how really proud we were of all the participants representing EDRAW at this fantastic event provided by Team Durham.

You all did Easington District  proud, and it was great to see that so many of you set difficult challenges which you managed to achieve.

The fact that some of you have signed up for courses with the University is a statement of the events success and how it has stimulated individuals and families to broaden their outlook and take up new and exciting activities and challenges.

Not going to say too much about this evening other than look at our rogues gallery and see all those smiling faces.

We would also like to that Team Durham for making this event possible and for giving us such wonderful experiences at such fantastic facilities.

We are truly grateful and look forward to continue partnership working in the near future.
